Plans and Processing Tokens: Which Feature Is in Which Plan?

The differences between the Free and Professional plans, when a processing token is spent, the rules for monthly tokens and purchased packs, storage quota and overage.

CartaX has two plans: Free and Professional; for organisations an Enterprise setup is arranged separately. This guide is the one-page answer to "why is this button disabled?" and "does this job spend tokens?". For current prices see the pricing page.

Plan comparison

Free Professional
Project spaces 1 Unlimited
Cloud storage 1 GB 1 TB (overage billed, see below)
Monthly processing tokens — 25
Viewing: orthophoto, mesh, point cloud, vector layers ✓ ✓
Uploading ready COG / octree / 3D Tiles / GLB ✓ ✓
Cloud conversion (raw LAS/LAZ → octree, raw TIF → COG) — ✓ (tokens)
CartaX Studio (local conversion + production, no tokens) — ✓
Cloud photogrammetry production (GPU-accelerated; web upload dialog or Studio) — ✓ (tokens)
AI point-cloud classification — ✓ (with production)
Analysis workspace (epoch comparison, volume, cut/fill) — ✓
360° photos and video — ✓
3D Gaussian Splatting upload — ✓
TKGM parcel query (Turkey) — ✓
WMS / WMTS external layers, routes — ✓
Sharing 1 active public link, max 3 days, no PIN Unlimited PIN-protected links, up to 30 days, recipient list

A feature that is off on the Free plan is not merely hidden in the interface; the server rejects it too. In the upload dialog such a card says "Not available on the Free plan — upgrade to Pro".

When is a processing token spent?

Tokens are for processing that runs in the CartaX cloud. Viewing, measuring, sharing and storage spend no tokens.

Job Tokens Note
Raw LAS/LAZ → octree (cloud) By point count — 1 token ≈ 40 million points An estimate is shown before upload; cap 5 GB / 150 million points
Raw GeoTIFF → COG (cloud) By file size — 1 token per GiB, minimum 0.25 Cap 3 GB
Cloud photogrammetry production By the total megapixels processed (photo count × frame resolution); the number of outputs does not change the price The wizard shows the estimated tokens and your balance before starting
Uploading ready COG / octree / 3D Tiles / GLB / 3DGS 0 Storage quota only
Local conversion and production in CartaX Studio 0 Only the uploaded output counts against storage
Viewing, measurement, analysis, sharing 0

Tokens are charged to a job when it completes; there may be a small difference between the estimate and the actual figure. If your balance is insufficient the job does not start at all.

Monthly tokens vs purchased tokens

  • Plan tokens (25 per month): renewed at the start of each period, they do not roll over — the unused part resets at period end.
  • Purchased token packs: permanent on the account, never expire; they are spent after the plan tokens run out. Non-refundable.
  • Annual payment bonus: bonus tokens that come with an annual subscription behave like permanent tokens.
  • Spending order: period tokens first, then permanent tokens. Tokens reserved for running jobs show as "reserved" in the balance.

Storage quota and overage

  • Uploaded outputs count against the quota: octree, COG, DEM, 3D Tiles, GLB, 3DGS, 360° photos and video, vector layers. Outputs produced locally with Studio and uploaded are included.
  • Professional includes 1 TB. If you accept overage you can upload beyond it; the excess is billed per GB on the highest usage seen within the period — deleting later does not reduce that period's charge, and new uploads that stay below the peak do not increase it. There is a hard cap; beyond it, Enterprise.
  • On the Free plan nothing can be uploaded beyond 1 GB.

What happens when the subscription ends?

  • Your storage drops to 1 GB, the monthly token allowance stops, unused plan tokens expire; purchased tokens remain.
  • Your data is not deleted. If your usage is above the free quota a 7-day grace period starts; if you re-subscribe or bring usage under the quota within it, nothing is deleted. When it runs out only the content above the quota is deleted; your account stays open.
  • Accounts without a subscription that have not signed in for a long time also enter an inactivity process; signing in stops it. Notices arrive on the dashboard and by e-mail.

Frequently asked

I ran out of tokens — will the job stop halfway? No. A job starts only if the balance is sufficient; a job that started completes.

Will the 40 GB LAZ I converted with Studio fill my quota? The raw LAZ is not uploaded; only the produced octree counts against the quota. An octree can be larger than the compressed LAZ; for your quota, go by the size of the output folder under Documents / CartaX Studio.

Annual or monthly? Annual payment gives two months free and permanent bonus tokens; details on the pricing page.
